Description
Well I was flipping through this book called Dynamic Figure Drawing by Burne Hogarth. It’s a really old book….like…from the 80s. But anyways. I saw this reversal method in the back and thought it was pretty cool, like an illusion. In the book it says that….
”A striking feature of the figure reversal method is that it offers the artist a challenge to develop his latent powers of visualization”
So basically what you do is you trace the outline of the original and then reverse everything….Challenge indeed….Developed latent powers of visualization!? Yusssss….or at least it felt like it lol!
The middle one is the pencil drawing ,made transparent in Gimp, over the colored pencil drawing so that you can see that they are both from the same outline. Isn't that freakeh!!!! An illusion, quite indeed.
I'm not so sure if this was meant to be applied to horses because the right one has some terrible conformation as a result....
This needs to be a meme, someone make this a meme…

what category do I put this in?

I'm pretty sure that can be applied to horses as well. This is really interesting! I must try it out sometime... Thank you for sharing! And I absolutely love the shading on the original pencil drawing <3
